Ruth Wallace, 98 of Gilmore City, died Sunday October 5, 2014 at the Long Term Care Facility, Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Service will be held Thursday, 10:30 AM October 9, 2014 at the Chapel of the Harris Funeral Home, Gilmore City with burial to follow in Marble Valley Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 PM Wednesday evening at the Harris Funeral Home in Gilmore City.
Ruth was born August 10, 1916 in Racine, Wisconsin to Robert and Pauline (Larsen) Olson. The family came to Iowa when she was one year old. Ruth graduated from the Gilmore City High School in 1935 and worked five years before marring Harold Wallace on February 7, 1940. The couple farmed in the Gilmore City are until moving to Gilmore City in 1973. After Harold died in 1997, she moved to Springvale in Humboldt and eventually entered the Long Term Care in 2011.
She was active in the First Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Senior Citizens and the Okay Club.
Survivors include her daughters: Connie (Richard) Benjamin of Gilmore City, IA and Julie Sampson of Shalimar, Florida, 3 grandchildren, Rick Benjamin of Phoenix AZ, Brenda(Kevin) Terwilliger, of Clear Lake, IA and Brian Sampson, of Dallas, Texas, two great grandchildren Ashley (Joel) Pals and Christa Terwilliger and great great grand daughter Brandy Pals.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, brothers Arnold, Henry and Robert Olson and sisters Violet Christensen, Camilla Bigelow, Ethel Boore and Martha Dumprope
