Ruth Alice (Olson) Spencer, 91, of Cromwell, wife of the late Herbert B. Spencer, passed away on December 30, 2014 at Middlesex Hospital. Born on April 4, 1923 in Fairfield, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Anna Olson. After high school, Ruth attended nurses training at Griffin Hospital in Derby. She graduated with her LPN and worked at Griffin Hospital for a few years and then worked private duty. Ruth was a WAVE in the United States Navy, working at military hospital in New York for two and half years during WWII. Ruth married Herb in 1949 and became a homemaker and mother of two daughters.
