Ruth Moore, daughter of Rev. Fred and Minnie Oliver, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at the age of 98. She was married for over 50 years to Charles H. Moore who passed away in 1981. Ruth was a daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother to her family. As a testimony of her strong faith in God, Ruth lived her life in service to others; she was a role model of how to grow old gracefully. Her sense of humor was evident until the time of her passing and will always be a source of joy to her children.

Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on an Indian reservation, she was the oldest daughter in a family of seven children. Her brothers, Raymond and Paul and sisters, Anna and Mary preceded her in death. Two sisters, Leota and Josephine, survive her as do her children and their families: Charles (Phyllis) Moore of Highland, Wilma (Darrell) Judy of Auburn Hills, and Mary (Stuart) Choate of Midland. Ruth was the mother of three, grandmother of ten, great-grandmother of nineteen and great-great-grandmother of eleven.

Ruth was active in her home community where she served in many leadership roles: president of PTA, brownie and scout leader, president of the NALC auxiliary, worthy matron of Chapter #228 of OES and as manager of an elementary school cafeteria where she honed her skills as a cook of many delicious meals. Ruth was a member of Midland First United Methodist Church, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
