Ruth Marie Barbour Handy, 82, of 3865 Dillon’s Fork Road, Fieldale, VA died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Blue Ridge Nursing Center, Inc., Stuart, VA. She was born on March 4, 1928 in Bassett, VA to the late William Dennis Barbour and Mary Ann Adams Barbour. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Handy; son, Dennis Lee Handy; infant twins, Julius and Juliet Handy; sisters, Geneva Mae Dillon, Corinne Perkins Roop and Tressie Elizabeth Washburn and brothers, C. L. Cummings, William Allen Cummings, J. D. Barbour and Douglas Taylor Barbour, Mrs. Handy was a self-employed beautician and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Ann Handy Hale of Ferrum, VA and Jeannie Marie Handy Allen of Bassett, VA; sons, William “Donnie†Handy of Nashville, TN and James David Handy of Fieldale, VA; sister, Shirley Ann Caviness of Patrick Springs, VA; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
