Ruth M. Nyquist, 92, of West Lafayette, died Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Westminster Village in West Lafayette.
She was born August 1, 1929, in Manhattan, Kansas, graduated from Kaiser Permanente Hospital School of Nursing in Oakland, California in 1950 and graduated from Sacramento State University in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing education. She taught at Sacramento Jr. College in the School of Nursing. She also worked in areas of hospital, clinical, industrial, and camp nursing. She was a licensed realtor with F.C. Tucker.
She married Wyman Nyquist on June 15, 1952, in Davis, California. He passed away October 29, 2008
Mrs. Nyquist lived a year in Japan in 1955 and Scotland in 1976. She was a member of PEO and Federated Church of West Lafayette.
Surviving is a son, Craig E. (Allison) Nyquist of Williamsport; two grandsons, Evan (Tasha Zobel) Nyquist and Benjamin Nyquist; two sisters, Deanna Almeida of Florida and Lois Woodmansey of Montana; and two brothers, Alfred A. Suneson of Washington and Paul Suneson of Arizona. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine A. Nyquist.
