Ruth M. Havens
Ruth M. “Ruthie” (Taylor) Havens, of New Fairfield, CT died peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the age of 101. She was the widow of Lester E. Havens, a local builder for over 50 years.
She was born August 10, 1912 in Danbury, the daughter of Samuel Taylor and Annie Renoff Taylor. In addition to doing all of the secretarial and bookkeeping work for her husband’s business, she was a Registrar of Voters in New Fairfield for many years and also the bookkeeper for the Town of New Fairfield.
Ruth lived for over 100 years and during that time she saw Danbury go from the “Hat City of the World” to what it is now. She was the best grandmother that anyone could ask for.
She is survived by her son: Addison L. Havens and his wife, Carol of Sherman, CT; her grandchildren: Audrey (Havens) and David Day, Alice (Havens) and John Wilkinson and Daniel Havens. She was the proud great grandmother to Emily, Jack, James, Jake, Tommy, Everett & Sadie.
