Ruth Inez Crow 88, of Boise, died Saturday March 5, 2016 peacefully at home with her family by her side. Ruth was born at her family home in Boise, Idaho to Ertle and Elvira Biesecker on October 26, attended Maple Grove Grade School, Franklin High School and Saint Alphonsus School of Nursing representing the last class in 1948. Ruth enlisted in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. As a Registered Nurse, she worked in the polio ward at Elks Rehab and also the Boise Veteran’s married Bill Crow on June 30th 1949 in Boise Idaho, together they had five children. In 1951, Bill started his racing career at Meridian Speedway. Bill and Ruth traveled throughout the Northwest and Canada making many lifelong friends along the way. Together, Bill and Ruth built the 121 Club in Garden City, Idaho, and later built Bill’s Frontier Club in Meridian. After Bill’s death in 1975, Ruth carried on owning and managing Bill’s Frontier Club from 1975 until 1998, at which time she retired at the age of 70. Ruth was active in the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, and in 1991 was the first and only woman to be conducted in the Western Idaho Racing Association Hall of Fame (WIRA). Ruth was very fortunate to be able to travel to numerous states and countries. Her goal was to say that she had been to every continent in the World, with Antarctica as her final destination in 2004. One of her most memorable trips was when she traveled around the world twice in a private jet. Ruth was an extraordinary grandmother; Supporting and encouraging each of her grandchildren in their diverse interests; including, 4-H, horse events, all school events, education, athletics, and traveling. Many of her hours revolved around her race track family, watching her husband, sons, grandsons and now her great grandson carry on this tradition. Ruth rarely missed a Saturday night at the speedway.
