Ruth Wilding Hammer passed away on February 8, 2018, at the age of 99. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.

She was born August 25, 1918, in Sugar City, Idaho, to Ellis Preston Wilding and Merle Grover Wilding. Ellis passed away only four weeks later, leaving Merle to care for their two children. Merle later married Solomon Fullmer. Ruth attended schools in Driggs, Sugar City, and Ammon, Idaho. She continued her education, receiving her nurses training in the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital and graduating with her registered nurse degree in 1939.

She married Lawrence Cleon Hammer in 1939, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived for a short time in Osgood, Idaho, before moving to Ucon, Idaho, where they raised their children, Douglas (Karen) Hammer, Lewiston, Utah, Larry (Nelda) Hammer, Ashton, Idaho, Rayola (Malcolm) Bell, Tremonton, Utah, Beverly (Terry) Nielsen, Logan, Utah, Gerald (Sherry) Hammer, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Leon (Jennell) Hammer, Brigham City, Utah.

Ruth helped Larry on the farm for a time and worked for many years at the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital on the evening shift as a labor and delivery room nurse. She retired shortly before the hospital closed. She loved being a nurse and was often sought out for her expertise, which she freely shared.
