Ruth Frideres, age 71 of Algona, passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at her home. Ruth Ann Frideres, the daughter of Leonard and Leona (Venteicher) Schmitz, was born on April 14, 1946 in Carroll, Iowa. She graduated from Fonda Community High School in 1964. Ruth then continued her education at Bernell Beauty School. On June 7, 1969 Ruth was united in marriage with Howard Frideres at the OLGC Parish in Fonda, Iowa. She was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church where she participated in chapel prayer every Sunday and she was a member of the Red Hats. Ruth enjoyed playing cards and was in the Crawfish Bottom and O.L. Clubs for over 40 years. Ruth dedicated her entire life to family and enjoyed spending time at the farm with her children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish Ruth’s memory is three daughters, Mollie Smith and her husband Shawn of Ankeny, Jenny Roethler and her husband Nick of Algona and Kimberly Frideres and fiancé Mike Trossel of Dallas, TX; five sons, Jeff Frideres and his wife Lisa of Humboldt, Jamie Frideres of Algona, Michael Frideres and his wife Samantha of Algona, Nicholaus Frideres and his wife Mindy of Algona and David Frideres and fiancé Kerri Stanton of Kansas City, MO; 17 grandchildren; and brothers, Jerry Schmitz of Vincent, Larry Schmitz of Fonda and Vernon (Cheryl) Schmitz of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; daughter, Jody Nagengast; parents, Leonard and Leona and brother, Duane Schmitz.
