Ruth Ellen Miller Jacobs, 91, of Martinsville, VA, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County. She was born on October 20, 1918, in Marietta, OH, to the late Harvey Henry Miller and Florence Weed Miller. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law and was loved by all who knew her. She loved to crochet and made afghans for all her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Clifton Thomas Jacobs, Sr.; a brother, Robert Miller and a grandchild, Jessie Gunter. Ruth was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Martinsville, VA, where she served as an organist. Prior to this, she served as secretary and organist at several other churches. She graduated from Marengo High School in Ohio and attended Marion College in Indiana. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Florence Jean and Kenny Bernard of Callaway, VA, Patricia and Charlie Fiskeaux of Nicholasville, KY and Lois and Robert Gunter of Martinsville, VA; son and daughter-in-law, C. Thomas Jacobs, Jr., and Maria Jacobs of Keller TX; sisters, Ada White of Lebanon, OH and Edna Johnson of Fort Wayne, IN; brothers, Virgil Miller of Brooksville, FL and John C. Miller of Wilmington, OH; grandchildren, Scott Stanley, Adrienne Canterbury, Amie Hall, Charlie Fiskeaux, II, Jana Jacobs, Justin Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, Ryan Jacobs, Christina Gunter, Melissa Tullis and fifteen great-grandchildren.
