Ruth Elaine (Riedel) Wagner, age 87, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 10:02 P.M. peacefully with family by her side at home on the family farm near Sycamore, Ohio. Ruth was born on January 31, 1935 on her grandparents farm east of Sycamore to Harvey M. Sr. and Jessie L. (Parkins) Riedel. She married the love of her life, Glen E. Wagner on December 27, 1953 in Sycamore. They were married sixty-three years with Glen preceding her in death on April 12, 2017.

Surviving are their two children, Sharon A. (Verne) Shellhouse of rural Tiffin, Ohio and Daniel G. Wagner of Columbus; four grandchildren, Micah (Amie) Hurley, Jennifer (Joe) McCann, Sarah (Matt) Libeg and Emily Shellhouse; nine great-grandchildren, Logan (Marissa Leeth) Hurley, Makenna (Michael Eisenhower) Hurley, Hunter and Tanner Hurley, Colin and Evan Smith, Logan and Joey McCann and Margaret Libeg; one great great grandchild, Kinslee Hurly, along with nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her two brothers, Harvey Jr. (Leura) and Homer (Doris) Riedel.

Ruth was retired from Mohawk Local School System having driven a school bus full time for over twenty-five years and assisted in the Sycamore Cafeteria part time. She also enjoyed assisting Glen on their farm and gardening through the years. Ruth was a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ, a graduate of Sycamore High School Class of 1953, a member of the Mohawk Historical Society and Wyandot County Tracers, and past member of the Ohio Farm Bureau.

For hobbies, Ruth enjoyed bowling for many years, watching the Cleveland Indians, Browns, Cavaliers, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and her grandchildren’s sports events. She also enjoyed attending auctions and garage sales and collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia.
