Ruth Elnor McDougle, 83, of Maumee passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo.

Ruth was born on March 16, 1940 in McComb, Ohio to the late Burleigh and Mary (Freeman) Leader. She married the love of her life Dr. Larry McDougle on August 18, 1962 and he survives in Maumee. Also surviving are her loving children: Janet (Mark) Newmaker of Lakeland, Florida, Bradley (Tammy) McDougle of Maumee, Ohio and Craig (Kathy) McDougle of New Albany, Ohio; grandchildren: Hailey (Tyler), Colin, Matthew (Amanda), Cassandra, Kasee (Abbie), Andrew (Ashely) and Zachary (Madelyn); great-grandchildren: Brady and Alaina; sisters: Rosemary, Dorothy, Virginia, Grace, Linda, and Shelia. She was preceded in death by her three brothers Calvin, Eugene and Charles.

Ruth was a 1958 graduate of McComb High School, where she was the Salutatorian. Ruth continued her education and graduated from Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with her Registered Nursing Degree. Ruth work in Infectious Control as a Registered Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee. Ruth was in the first group to be national certified as an Infection Control Specialist. Ruth was a true believer in Christ and was a faithful member of the First Church of Christ in Napoleon, Ohio. Ruth enjoyed watching sports, she was an avid Ohio States Buckeyes fan as well as a Cleveland Guardians fan. Ruth was an excellent musician, she had a beautiful voice and enjoyed playing the piano and clarinet. Ruth was a beautiful woman inside and out; she had a heart of gold and more than anything loved her family.
