Ruth E. Lampson, 87, of Galesburg, died at 4:10 AM, Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg.Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 19, 1929. She was the daughter of Curtis and Ethel (Chamberlain) Thompson. She married the love of her life, Thomas Lampson on September 25, 1949, in Cambridge. Thomas preceded her in death on May 18, 2011.
Ruth is survived by two sons, Michael (Jeanne Collier-Lampson) Lampson of Galesburg, and Sheldon (Donna) Lampson of Aledo; one daughter, Linda (Barney) Price of Galesburg; a brother, Dean Thompson of Toulon; 6 grandchildren, Shannon Mullin, Dawn Childers, Christian Price, Justin Price, Rachel Lampson, and Naomi Lampson; and nine great-grandchildren. Along with her husband Thomas, Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Curtis (Virginia) Thompson; and one sister Phyllis (Robert) O’Keefe of Texas.Ruth graduated from Toulon High School. She was a homemaker and mother. Her pies and dark rye bread had many admirers and was requested often by friends and acquaintances. She worked as a domestic engineer for many years to help raise her children. Ruth was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church for many years and enjoyed attending while also teaching classes for the children.
