Muncie-Ruth McKinney, 101, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 18, 2013, at the Morrison Woods Health Care Center following an extended illness. She was born on February 21, 1912, in Pekin, Indiana, the daughter of Peter and Lula (Lockenour) Brown.
She had attended a one room school house in Old Pekin, Indiana. Later, Ruth would marry the love of her life; William S. McKinney on December 20, 1932 in Columbus, Indiana by Rev. George T. King, William preceded her in death on February 5, 1991. Mrs. McKinney became a homemaker.
Survivors include, two sons, Ivan McKinney (wife-Betty), Bossier City, Louisiana and Roger McKinney (wife-Patricia), Chillicothe, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Molly McKinney, Richmond; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren ;twenty great, great grandchildren; two brothers, Elmo Brown and Jesse Brown, both of Salem, Indiana; a special niece, Juanita “Ruth” Mullins, Muncie; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 59 years William, she is preceded in death by her son, William S. McKinney Jr. in January of 2013; five brothers, Arnold, Oren, Robert, Donald and Merle Brown; one sister, Grace Lamb Winegar.
