Russell Kent Sorenson, 72, passed away Monday morning March 9th 2015 at the Portnef Hospital in Pocatello Idaho.

He was born Sept. 7, 1942 in Montpelier Idaho to Russell Sorenson and Elna Mae Hanson. He was the 3rd child in a family of four sons.

Kent lived in Ovid Idaho where he attended grade school. He graduated from Fielding High School in 1960. Kent enlisted in the Navy Right out of high school where he earned his wings and served on the air craft carrier and became a pilot, until he was honorably discharged in 1965. He attended the accounting program at Idaho State University.

Kent married Connie Jean Chapple, December 4, 1975 and two children, JuNae and Jon were born to this union. They were later divorced. He then found his soul mate June Caldwell Sorensen, being together for many years until she passed away January 7 2001.

35 years were spent working at the Union Pacific Railroad where he was a Conductor in Pocatello, Idaho. He later moved to Walla Walla, Washington where he served as conductor for Amtrak until he retired.

After his retirement Kent lived in Hermiston Oregon, Ovid Idaho, and then settled in Chubbuck Idaho where he could be close to his children and grandchildren. He loved to golf and fish, always having his fishing pole and hat ready for a day of adventure.

Kent is survived by his daughter JuNae Sorenson Jones of Pocatello, Idaho, and his son, Jon Sorenson (Sheila) of Pocatello, Idaho, 8 grandchildren, and one brother, Darrell Sorenson, of Ovid, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and one granddaughter.
