Russell E. “Russ” or “Goose” Ross Jr., age 59, of Kalamazoo, passed away at Borgess Hospital on Sunday, May 12, 2019. He was born July 19, 1959, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Russell and Jeanette (Meeker) Ross Sr. Russell attended Portage Central High School. He married his wife Catherine Brown on July 19, 2014.
He worked as a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) in the nursing home when he was younger for many, many years. He later worked as a floor technician until he departed. Russ liked playing cards, baseball, and football; a huge Chicago Cubs fan he was. He was known to light up the room by telling funny stories and jokes. Most of all, Russ enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. His favorite pastime was being outdoors fishing and summer picnics at the park to bring the family together. He was preceded in death by his father Russell Ross Sr., and brother Ronald Ross.
Russell leaves to cherish his memory his wife Catherine Brown; his children: Averonna Brown of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Brianna Brown, Cornessa Inge (Guy Ross), Jason Ross, Jessica Ross, Ryan Ross, Shonna Smith, Ebony Willhite, Erwin Willhite, and Shannon Wolff of Kalamazoo, Michigan; his grandchildren: Alyssa Bailey and Deonte Bailey Jr of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Demetrus Betts, Andrew Glenn Jr, Dimande Gilbert, Lavelle Gilbert Jr, Shanice Gilbert, Vanessa Gilbert, Zephaniah Lewis, Genesis Smith, Jonah Smith, Zaniya Smith, and Seantiana Willhite of Kalamazoo, Michigan; his mother Jeanette Ross of Portage, Michigan; his brothers Spencer (Sharon) Ross of Gobles Michigan and Terry (Theresa) Ross of Marcellus Michigan and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
