Ruby Opal Berger died November 12, 2012 at Bonell Good Samaritan Community at Greeley, Colorado. She was 84 years old.

Ruby was born to parents, Arthur Claude and Martha Pearl Bowlby on October 19, 1928, in the sand hills of Nebraska. She lived in McCook, Nebraska until she was 11 years old when the family moved to Pueblo, Colorado. Ruby graduated from Brighton High School, and the studied for one year at Denver University with ambitions to be an airline stewardess. On December 15, 1949, she married Leo Berger and lived near Fort Lupton, Colorado, until 1952, when they moved to a farm near Longmont, Colorado. Besides raising six children, Ruby was active in a dinner club made up of girls she knew from high school. She became a leader for the Longmont 4H Club, and, along with other women from Longmont, formed a social club and enjoyed many activities with them.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her brother, Leonard (Georgia) Bowlby of Grand Junction, Colorado, six children; Barbara (Tom) Fletcher of Longmont, Colorado, Patricia Smith of Frederick, Colorado, Laura (David) Bredemeier of La Salle, Colorado, Jim Berger of Longmont, Colorado, Susan (Andy) Reeves of Poteau, Oklahoma, Scott Berger of Dacono, Colorado; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
