Ruby Manalansan Alcaraz, age 76, passed away Saturday February, 6, 2016 at the Villa Marie Claire Hospice, Saddle River, NJ. Her strong will to live, faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through months of treatments and pain.

She was born to the late Quintin Manalansan and Remedius Rodriguez on June, 28, 1939 in Davao del Sur, Philippines. In 1960, Ruby married the love of her life, Roger Alcaraz and raised five gorgeous children; Dan Victor, Liza, Joey, Rey, and Laila.

She came to the USA in 1984 to provide a better life for her family. The Lord opened an opportunity for her to work at Columbia University. There she was blessed with co-workers that became her friends and many like a family for those years that she was alone in a foreign place. Family and friends were Ruby’s passion and delight.

She thoroughly enjoyed gardening of which orchids and African violets were her favorites. She also loved watching food and shopping channels. She had ordered so many products from QVC that she could open a store.

Ruby is survived by her husband of 55 years Roger Z. Alcaraz, her five children; Dan Victor and his wife Jean Alcaraz, Liza Alcaraz, Joey and his wife Ancher Alcaraz, Rey and his wife Rose Alcaraz, and Laila and Ross Tagupa, She was also the grandmother of nine; Kristel Phoebe and Kayle Alcaraz, Von Jerome, Jacob and Gabriel Alcaraz, Justin, Joshua, and Julian Alcaraz, and Matthew Jayden Tagupa. Ruby leaves behing too many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and God-Children to list or even count.

Be still and know that I am God.
