Ruby L. Besch, 89 of Rodman died July 5, 2020 at the West Bend Care Center. Ruby (Zaugg) Besch, the daughter of William and Rosa (Christen) Zaugg, was born December 11, 1930 in West Bend, IA, where she was educated and graduated from West Bend Community school. After graduation, she attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, obtaining her teaching certificate. Ruby taught for 41 years, her first years in Ottosen and Rodman, and then spent 26 years teaching at Sts. Peter and Paul Parochial School in West Bend. On December 26, 1956, she was united in marriage with Robert Besch at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The couple lived in West Bend until 1965, when they moved to Rodman. They spent their married lives in Rodman until returning to West Bend to the Assisted Living facility. Survivors include her children, Marcia (Tom) Sadler of Aurora, Missouri, Mark Besch (Crystal Metzger) of Rodman, IA, grandchildren: Jonathan (Crissy) Sadler, and honorary grandchildren: Caleb Metzger and Makaya Metzger, and many special nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Bob in June 2019, and siblings: Louise, Walter, Ed, Oscar, Leah, Eva, Mable Ruth, Elma, Richard, Clarence, Betty Rose and Don. Ruby was the last surviving child of William and Rosa Zaugg and passed away at the West Bend Health and Rehab Center. Ruby was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Emmetsburg Hospital Auxiliary and was a board member of the Lost Island Nature Center.
