Ruby Harris, 86, of 4353 Marion Road, Chatham, VA died peacefully at Danville Regional Medical Center on June 4, 2011. Born June 12, 1924 in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Blanch Barbour. She was raised by her aunt, Dora Petty, and was a member of Concord United Methodist Church. Ruby was married to the late Eben Harris and spent most of her life as a homemaker. Ruby is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Ferrell of Ashland, VA; a son, Michael Harris and wife Shirley of Chatham; six grandchildren, Becky Sewell and husband Richard, Tracy Brown and husband Bob, and Eddie Stanley and wife, Kim, all of Ashland, VA; Patricia Towler and husband, Dane of Chatham; Jennifer Moore and husband, Jonathan of Danville; and Specialist Timothy Harris and wife, Christine of Ft. Hood, TX. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and her caregiver, Janet Stickel.
