Ruby was born July 22, 1922 in Jamestown, North Dakota, to Robert and Julia Dent. She was raised in North Dakota and Montana where she attended school and was employed as a cook and a dental assistant; and later as a bookkeeper for her husband Walter’s contracting business. She had an ability to create harmony and inspire excellence in those who were lucky enough to know her. Ruby had an interest in the history and cultures of the world, especially Greece, her favorite destination. In fact, Ruby and her husband traveled the world together and brought back many keepsakes to grace the home that she and Walter built together and lived in until her passing.

Ruby excelled at gardening, ceramics, and cooking, with her pies being recognized as world-class. She also enjoyed a good card game and most recently, became the family champion of tile rummy. Ruby was very active in the women’s circle of the Westside United Methodist Church, working at the voting polls of Cascade County for many years, and being active in her children’s activities.

Survivors include her loving husband Walter of 65 years; sons, Gary (Billie) Bauer, David (Ellen) Irion, 6 granddaughters and 7 great grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Dent; sisters, Violet Bauer, Grace Canoy, and daughter, Sherry Bauer Miner.
