Roy Woodrow Wray, 92, of 1285 Fairfield Road, Henry, VA died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at his home. He was born on October 13, 1917 in Franklin County, VA to the late Charles William Wray and Fannie Young Wray. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle Wray, Edith Brown and Ann Crowgey and two brothers, Ellis Wray and Kermit Wray. Mr. Wray was a life long member of the Oak Level Baptist Church, Bassett, VA where he served as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He retired in 1980 after 40 years service with E. I. DuPont, Inc. as a mechanic and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Hatcher Wray of the home; a daughter, Linda Wray Carter of Collinsville, VA; a son, James Woodrow Wray of Henry, VA; a sister, Ida Merriels of Martinsville, VA; three grandchildren, Justin Scott Spencer, Kelly Lynn Berliner and Dorothy Wray Anderson and three great-grandchildren, Zachary Anderson, Cassidy Anderson and Emily Anderson.
