Roy Walter Dow, 74, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.
He was born July 23, 1947, to Clyde D. Dow and Thelma Woods in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Cleveland area schools graduating from Shaw High School. He attended Weber State University.
Roy joined the Air Force in November 1966. During his military career he served two tours in Vietnam which preceded the beginning of a long career at Hill Air Force Base. He retired after 39 years of service, ending his career as the C-130 Aircraft Production Chief.
In July 1977, he married Cheryl Doro. From that marriage two children were born, Nicholas Vincent Dow and Jessica Lynn Dow. Roy and Cheryl later divorced.
Roy married Lynette (Lynny) Maccarthy in August 1998. They shared 23 years together. The two of them enjoyed riding motorcycles, bowling, camping, and spending time with friends and family.
Roy’s hobbies included beer making, creating clocks from Harley Davidson parts, attending baseball games, playing and watching golf.
He was a forgiving man, upbeat, with a great sense of humor, he loved kids and they loved him back. Roy was close to his children and very proud of all their achievements. His two granddaughters Stella Lynn Nash and India Sue Dow were a joy to him.
Roy leaves behind his loving wife Lynny, his son Nick (Cassie) Dow, son-in-law Aaron Nash, and two granddaughters. He also leaves behind his brother Bob (Marilou) Dow and a niece and nephew.
Roy was preceded in death by his angel daughter Jessica Dow Nash and his parents.
Roy will be missed every single day by those who knew and loved him. His infectious personality put a smile on everyone’s face and left them better for knowing him.
