Roy R. Dare Roy R. Dare of Willingboro died Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at his residence. He was 93. Born in Menasha, Wis., Roy was a longtime Willingboro resident.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was a photographer during the war, photographing many dignitaries, including Gen. Eisenhower. His love of photography continued after the war and turned into a lifelong passion. He would take countless pictures and then develop them in his homemade dark room.

He was retired from the James River Corp. where he was employed as a mechanical packaging engineer. While living in Wisconsin, he worked for the Marathon Corp. He was very mechanically inclined and enjoyed building dollhouses. He also enjoyed gardening. In his younger years he was quite an adventurer and outdoorsman and for many years enjoyed service to the Boy Scouts taking Eagle Scouts on adventures and outdoor treks. He will forever be remembered by his family as someone who loved and cherished his family, particularly his children and grandchildren.

He was also very devoted to the memory of his late wife Elizabeth “Betty” (Rutter) who passed away in 2006. Roy was also preceded in death by his son, John Timothy Dare; and his sisters Rene and Ruth. He is survived by his children, Alexandra Spellman, Frederick Dare, Aimee Sollenberger, Mary Weber, Lynn Thompson and Patricia Halko; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Roy is also survived by his sister Karen Swiecichowski.
