Roy L. Gordon of Jackson MI formerly of Greensburg, IN passed away on April 26, 2018.

He was born on August 7, 1926 in Madison, Indiana to the late Allison and Alice (Chadwell) Gordon.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Lorraine (Preuss) Gordon, son Stephen R. Gordon, daughter Patricia A. Gordon (twin sister to Joyce), brother William Gordon and sister Edna Tilley.

He is survived by daughter Joyce (Bob) Gilmore of Jackson, MI; granddaughter Jennifer (Ed) Kline of Holland, MI; great-grandson Kyle Kline of MI; sister-in-law Trudy Gordon of Greenfield, IN, sister-in-law Marion Harrison of Columbus, IN and brother-in-law  James (Kathy) Preuss of Greensburg, IN.  Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Roy was a graduate of Sandusky High School. He married his high school sweetheart Lorraine Preuss in 1945. They had a great and loving marriage that lasted 68 years. Roy was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II.

He received the World War II Victory Medal and American Theatre Ribbon. After returning home, he began his career in the furniture business at International Furniture (later Schnadig Corp.) in Rushville, IN. Roy also worked at the company’s plants in Bryan Texas and Montoursville PA where he served as plant manager until his retirement at age 71.  With 50 years in the business and no sick days, Roy was called Schnadig’s “Iron Man”.  As Roy said, “If you like your job, you stick with it.”

He was well respected by his co-workers and made many long lasting friendships. After retirement, Roy and Lorraine moved to Greenwood, IN. When Lorraine passed away in 2014, Roy moved to Jackson, MI to be near his daughter Joyce. Family and friends will gather at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home to pray the rosary.
