Rowland K. Carver, 84, of Bethlehem, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 in his home. He was the husband of Jean M. (Walbert) Carver and the late Jean (McNitt) Carver, who passed away in 1971. Born in Fredericksburg, VA, he was the son of the late Rowland K. Carver, Sr. and Dorothea V. (Farmer) Carver Durett. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Rowland worked for Bell Labs as an assistant member of the technical staff and Supervisory Committee for 32 years until retiring in 1987. He was also a Director of the Western Electric Credit Union. Rowland was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Lehigh Valley Computer Club and served as Treasurer of the Astronomy Club and was also a private pilot until the late 1990s. Survivors: his loving wife, Jean; daughters, Rebecca K. Cappella of Cold Water, MI and Sandra L. (Carver) Woodman of Catasauqua; step-sons, Rick Bair and his wife Arielle of Northampton and Keith Bair and his wife Kathy of Longwood, FL; brothers, Robert W. Carver of Richmond, VA and William R. Carver of Fredericksburg, VA; sister, Diane Newton of Chancelorsville; 3 grandchildren, Alex, Jason and Sara.
