Rosemary passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at St Francis Nursing Center in Colorado Springs. Rosemary Frances Strausbaugh was born February 8, 1926, near Osawatomie, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Frances Strausbaugh. She was united in marriage to Charles William Courtney on August 13, 1943 in Paola, Kansas. He preceded her in death November 26, 2010. They were married for 67 years.
A fan of NFL football, she enjoyed watching the games and wagering on the winner with her son-in-law Ray. Rosemary was an avid pinochle player at Elbert Senior Center, and later with Sister Georgiana and Sister Francis at the Nursing Center.
She is survived by her daughter and spouse; Shirley (Ray) Elbert, CO; 2 loving grandchildren Paige (Jupiter, FL), and Ray (Manitou Springs CO); 2 great-grandchildren Jack and Connor; 2 sisters, Virginia Giarraputo (Kansas City) and Carol Mills (Harrisonville MO); 4 brothers Joe, Don, Jerald and Jerry Strausbaugh; sister-in-law Barbara Courtney (Paola KS) and brother-in-law Roy Courtney (Ottawa KS); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Albert, Bernard and Thomas; and sisters Clara Marie and Dena.
