She was born April 13, 1925 in Silver City, New Mexico, to Vincente and Carlota Ortega, and moved as an infant to Arizona. She is survived by her husband John, daughter Carol, sons Johnnie, Michael, David, Joe and Ed, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as three sisters, Mary, Nellie and Charlotte and three brothers Vince, Clem and Pete.
