Rose Devor, 89, of Centralia, IL passed away on the morning of October 26, 2020. Born on March 15, 1931 to Rev. Joe and Anna Marie (Casey) Gibbons.

She is survived by her brother Rev. James Gibbons and his wife Helen (Rockford, IL), son Michael Davis (Carbondale, IL), daughter Trudie Davis Meeks (Warrenville, IL), step son Michael Devor and wife Cindy (Centralia, IL), granddaughters Cacia Meeks (St. Louis, MO) and Moriah Meeks (Chicago, IL), step grandchildren Shawn Devor (Mt. Vernon, IL), Michael Devor (Waltonville, IL), Anne Johnston (Salem, IL), Amanda Bishop (Salem, IL), Jason Hunter (Centralia, IL) and 16 great grandchildren (if we counted right).

She was preceded in death by her son David Nelson Davis, first husband Neil Davis, and second husband Duane Devor. As an active member of CornerStone United Methodist Church, formerly Demaree UMC, Rose sang in the choir, taught bible study, and served the community through numerous mission projects.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren taking them camping, spoiling them with toys, and playing card games and dominos with them late into the night. She even spoiled the furry, four-legged critters of her household with nightly bologna treats. An avid reader, she inspired us to enjoy nature, history, and life-long learning.

Rose liked to tell it like it was. She was direct, honest, and had a quick wit. She always put others’ needs before her own and found life’s rewards in giving to others. She would do anything for her family and always had a smile on her face. While she faced many challenges throughout her life, she found great strength in her faith. She made the world a better place. Now that she is no longer with us, it is our duty to carry on her loving and caring spirit. Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave you – Ephesians 4:32
