PompeiRose (nee Origlio), age 91, of Ocean City, NJ on January 27, 2018. Beloved wife to the late Arnold J. Pompei. Loving mother of Arnold F. (JoAnn), Michael A., Jessina S. Bereznak (Brian). Cherished mom-mom to 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister to Caroline Mangan; preceded in death by brothers Frank and Dominic. Aunt to many loving nieces and nephews. In her early years, Rose enjoyed summers in Sea Isle City with her grandmother and her siblings. As a young woman, Rose was busy in the kitchen cooking with her mother while her sister and brothers worked in the family business, “Antonio Origlio Beer Distributing.” Rose had a gift for cooking that would become her married the love of her life, Arnold, in 1947 and settled in Drexel Hill to raise her 3 children. She was active at St. Bernadette’s, her children’s school. Rose enjoyed the shore and spent many fun and exciting summers in the family home in Long Port, NJ, with her sister and their respective the 1970’s, Rose and Arnold worked together at their restaurant “The Riddle Ale House.” Rose was a wonderful hostess, which highlighted her warm disposition and knack for connecting with guests, many of whom looked forward to seeing her each week. Rose and Arnold loved to travel and enjoyed seeing the world with Italy being their favorite destination. Later in life, Arnold and Rose spent their summers in Ocean City, NJ and winters in Florida. The Jersey shore would be their favorite place to relax and always have a welcome sign out for family and friends. Their ‘Night in Venice’ parties were often the highlight of the summer season.After Arnold’s death, Rose joined the Ocean City Community Center where she easily made new friends and led an active social was blessed with a wonderful, happy and healthy life. Her last few years had been her hardest, but she weathered them like a champ and kept those around her entertained with her candor and humor until the end. She was feisty, funny, opinionated and tough and she will be greatly missed.
