Rose Bruggeman, 77, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2015 in the comfort of her home. Born in Sioux Falls, SD on December 29, 1937, Rose has called Phoenix home since 1989. Through years of health challenges, she remained strong in her faith and a positive force in the lives of those she loved. Her strength and resolve in difficult times were two of the many qualities so many admired in Rose. In May, Rose celebrated 48 years of sobriety. To know Rose was to love her. She greeted everyone she encountered as a potential friend. Her home often served as a meeting place for friends and family drawn together by guaranteed laughter and wisdom as needed. Those that knew her well will dearly miss her vicarious joy in times of jubilation and comforting voice in times of need. With her passing, Rose joins her parents George and Irene Lucas. Rose’s legacy will live on through her children Coleen Tobin, Patrick Tobin both of Phoenix, Catie Tobin of Minneapolis, Kelly Tobin of Vermillion, SD; siblings Gregory “Bud” Lucas (Didi) of Vancouver, WA, Kathleen Anstey (John) of Omaha, Thomas Lucas of Seattle, Janet Pinaire (Bill) of Vancouver, WA; grandchildren Kiley Naas of Washington, DC, Haley Hoefflin and Dylan Hoefflin of Phoenix, Spencer Naas of Connecticut; special nieces and nephews Maggie Lucas, Steve Lucas, Annie Lucas, Dan Lucas, Mary Therese Anstey, Erin Anstey, Christine Aguilar, and Brian Pinaire; countless beloved friends; and her loyal guardian, Holly the Cat. Rose will be waiting to reunite over coffee or a cigarette someday.
