Rosanne (Shippy) Wolfe was born June 3, 1937 in Kendallville, IN. She was the daughter of Clifton and Alice (Sutton) Shippy.
She graduated from Avilla High School in 1955, then attended and graduated from Taylor University in 1959 with a BS degree in Elementary Education. She earned a MS degree from Indiana University in 1962. She taught at LaOtto Elementary School, 1959-1961. She taught 28 ½ years in the Eastbrook School Corporation, mainly at the Upland Elementary, retiring in 1995. She was highly respected by her peers and by parents, and greatly loved by her students. She married Robert C. Wolfe on June 6, 1959. Rosanne served 29 years as a Sunday School teacher and in many other capacities at the Upland United Methodist Church. She attends the Westview Wesleyan Church near Jonesboro. She was a former member and officer of the New Mulberry Home Extension Club, member of the Grant County Reading Association, and member of the Eastbrook Classroom Teachers’ Association.
For 16 years, she taught the classroom field experience of the Taylor University Elementary Physical Science classes. After retirement, she served as a tutor with the Grant County Literacy Society, with the Grant County Jail GED Program, as well as teaching several adults in her home. She volunteered with the Grant County Rescue Mission, Upland Helping Hand, and with Habitat for Humanity of Grant County, serving on the Banquet Committee, as the Food Coordinator for builds, and as an active participant in construction. She was also involved for many years in teaching with Kids Hope at Jonesboro Elementary. Rosanne’s hobbies included being with family, reading, traveling, and serving others. She and her husband participated in many Elderhostel adventures around the country. She loved her Lord with all her heart and being and served him well.
Rosanne’s Bob preceded her in death in 2016. She is survived by two sons: R. Timothy (Rebecca), Los Altos, CA; and Steven A. (Julie), Fort Wayne; two daughters: Bethany J. (Ross) Fones, Jonesboro; and Catherine N. (Dan) Elwood, Clyde, OH. She has 12 grandchildren: Adam Thurman; Taylor (Joel) Thomas and Carli Fones; Tawnee (Joshua-soon) Garcia, Timmy, and Charlotte Marie Wolfe; Joshua (Katie), Isaiah (Jazmine-soon), Aaron Horne; and Drew, Trent, and Emily Grace Uhrhammer.
Rosanne also has seven great-grandchildren: Brianna, Olivia, Ross Wayne, Rae, and Remi Thomas; Jaxson Andrew Steiner and Stormi Garcia.
