Rosalie Mae (Webber) Turner, age 89 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Pearl Pavilion in Freeport.

Rosalie was born May 18, 1930, in Dexter, Missouri to Raymond Louis Webber and Emma Mae (Boyer) Webber.

She graduated from Dexter High School, and then headed to St. Francis Nursing School in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

She met and married William Raymond Turner, Jan 5, 1950, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  After graduation, she happily became a Marine Corps wife, embracing the life and keeping the home fires burning through many deployments, during both peace time and times of war, for the next 22 years. While he was protecting our country as a Combat Engineer, she was busy raising five children. Rosalie also kept busy being an E.R. nurse in Escondido, California, an Assistant Director of Nursing in Vista, California, a Red Cross school nurse for the DOD school system in North Carolina, a doctor’s nurse in Missouri and Dr. Rotblatt’s chair side nurse in Freeport.

After retiring from working, Rosalie didn’t stay idle for long. She made beautiful custom dolls, including cheerleading dolls for all the local teams, specialized children’s clothing, beautiful hand painted and carved gourds. She also made quilts for all her children. She was also with the Stephenson Nursing Home Auxiliary, and did the funeral luncheons for St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and was a mentor for nursing students at Highland College.

Rosalie was a happy person, with a smile and word of encouragement for all she met. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. What she was most proud of was her marriage to Bill. They celebrated their 70th Anniversary in January as much in love as the day they married, if not more, still holding hands and stealing kisses.

Rosalie is survived by her spouse, Bill, daughter Nancy Newton, Son, William (Deb) Turner, Daughters, Angela (Joe) Irving, Elizabeth (Kenny) Oppold, and Susan Ward. Grand children, Heather (Bill) Andrews, Kristen (Erik) Janssen,  Daniel Turner and Brian Turner, Elizabeth Irving and Abigail Irving, Christopher Oppold, Ben Mahoney, Dalton Ward, Levy Ward, Remy Ward, Schnaider Ward, and Moises Ward. Great Grandchildren, David Lancaster, Katelyn Janssen, Carter Janssen, Kaden Andrews, Annalynne Andrews, Trey Turner, Jack Huston, Luke Huston, and Vega Oefelein. Rosalie was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Emma Webber, grandson Scott Halbin and granddaughter Jennifer Huston.

The family of Rosalie would like to thank the Freeport Health Network Hospice Nurses for their exceptional care of Rosalie, especially Hailey, Anna, Becky and Sara, the aides and the many volunteers. We would also like to thank Pearl Pavilion for the love and compassion shown to Rosalie and the excellent care given to her. Your loving care meant a lot to our family.
