Ronald Willis Short, of Roy, Utah, passed away November 5, 2016 at the age of 85.
Ron was born May 4, 1931 in Midland, Michigan where he was raised along with his eight siblings. He was the son of Vernon W. and Honor Chase Short. He served during the Korean War and continued his enlistment in the United States Air Force Reserves at Hill AFB for a total of 28 years.
He married Nyla Mae Searle, in Ogden, Utah, January 19, 1951, and together they raised five children. They later divorced. Ron worked as a manager for Albertsons, Western Auto then Defense Depot Ogden from which he retired. He later returned to the work force as a security guard at Clearfield Freeport Center. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He spent a big part of every summer with his family and friends at his cabin in Sanpete County.
Ron is survived by his children: Ronald D. Short (Carrie), Michael R. Short (Annette), Sheila Asbury and Karla Short, his brother Kenneth Short and sister, Dorothy Brandt. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney William Short, two grandsons, his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
