Ronald W. Sells 1932-2015

Ron passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 4, 2015. His wishes were to have his family around him as he passed to assist him on his journey to the next chapter of his life. Ron is survived by his wife Violet, of 59 years, Son, Scott Sells (Kati), Daughter, Pam Pannarale (Jim), two Grandchildren, Alyssa and Kendall Sells along with a Great Grandson, Jamieson Sells. Preceded in death Harold Sells (Father), Florence Anderson (Mother), Vernon Anderson (Step Father), Larry Stratton (Son).

Ron was born and raised in Chicago until moving to Wonder Lake and eventually settling in Cary to raise his family. Ron worked at Swisher Craft boats until landing a job at Northern Illinois Gas Company (Nicor) were he worked for 30+ years starting as a gas repair man reading meters and worked his way up to control inspector and Union Steward from which he retired. He also volunteered for many years at the Cary Fire Department where he earned the nickname Gas Pipe, he also participated in the annual fire department Water Fights.

Prior to retiring in Arizona his frequent hobbies were golfing, fishing, bowling and snowmobiling. After retirement his wish was to get away from the snow in Illinois and buy a home in Arizona, where he was proclaimed King of DJ’s Bagel Cafe by his peers. He loved fishing with his son Scott, they went twice a year to Wisconsin without fail, as the stories go the fish that got away get bigger and bigger every year with no pictures to be had. As far as his daughter Pam, Daddy’s little girl is an understatement they were inseparable and always enjoyed their time together. On many occasions laughable trouble would find them, between their annual vacations in Cancun or just relaxing on the patio you never knew what would occur. Their famous saying was “if we got out of here without a hitch it was a success”.

Ron thoroughly enjoyed his many friends, drinking a beer, smoking a cigar, watching his Chicago sport teams, going to Hockey games, Football games and NASCAR races. He was always hoping for his Cubbies to win the World Series. Maybe this year Dad!!!

He always had a whopping presence in any room and in life. He will be dearly missed.
