Ronald W. Lyman, Sr.

Ron was born in Rome on September 4, 1934 to the late Melvin and Rose Miller Lyman. He graduated from Westmoreland High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Ron worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service, retiring after 28 years of service. He also worked for many years at his “dream job” at Delta Knolls and Mohawk Glen Golf Course.

Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and played softball and bowled in his younger days. Ron was also a devoted Red Sox and Syracuse University fan. He loved all sports, whether it was playing them in his younger years, coaching, refereeing or watching his grandchildren play, he loved it all. He was a big fan for any Rome or Westmoreland team.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Sam) Tallarino of Rome; two sons, Ronald “Bill” (Sandy) Lyman, Jr., and Patrick Lyman both of Rome; grandchildren, Samuel (Alicia), Nicholas, Kaleigh (Robert) Laura, and Jennifer (Shawn); a brother, Bruce Lyman; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Teurman, and Rosalie Lyman; and a sister in law, Shirley Lyman.
