Ronald W. Gast, the son of Walter G. and Elsie L. Straub Gast, was born August 1, 1937 in Battle Creek, Nebraska. He was a graduate of Meadow Grove High School in Meadow Grove, Nebraska in 1953, and a graduate of Norfolk Junior College in Norfolk, Nebraska. Ronald served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961.
On June 30, 1962, Ronald was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Uttecht in Norfolk. They made their home in Norfolk, and they owned two shoe store in the area. They moved to Newton, Iowa in 1969, and he became a sales representative for the International Shoe Company. Ronald was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Shirley; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff A. and Heidi of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his grandsons, Wesley A. and Jacob A. Gast of Cedar Rapids; and his sister and brother-in0law, Joan and George Real of Norfolk, Iowa.
