Ronald D. Chero, Sr. “Ron” of Aston passed away on July 5, 2020 at the age of 81. Ron was preceded in death by his father Nicholas Chero, mother Isabel (Venuto) Chero, brother Robert Chero and wife Barbara (Starr) Chero. Loving father of Cheryl Ann (George) Blewitt, Ronald Jr. (Linda) Chero, Nikki (John) Karpinski. Also survived by his deeply loved and loving grandchildren Sebastion, Jake, Lindsay, Ben, Julian, Isabella and Jakey. Ron was born in Philadelphia and graduated from St. Tommy Moore High School in 1956. He loved living in Philadelphia as a boy. He enjoyed school, was a good student, ran on the Track and Cross Country teams and considered himself a tough guy. His favorite memories were hanging out with his friends in Cobbs Creek Park and swimming there on hot summer days. He met his wife Barbara and it was love at first sight. They were married for 50 years. Ron was proud of his work and was very good at it. In High School he worked as a carpenter apprentice where he learned the trade from his mentor Benny Powell. Later in life he went to work for Shooster Properties as a foreman, until he retired in 2000. He was always willing to help family and friends with any home projects or repairs. He was meticulous and his work was perfect.Family, friends, sports and food were Ron’s passion. The time he spent with his family were his most cherished memories. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, reading and all sports. He was a long time Penn State football fan and loved going to the games and tailgating. He celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends where he sat in the student section of Beaver Stadium and was a king for a day. Every student who passed by him wished him a happy birthday. It was a memorable day for was known to do a shot or two of Blackberry Brandy to celebrate a special occasion or just to reward himself at the end of a hard day of work. He loved food, home cooked or take out. Many Friday nights were spent at the China Buffet or Slow Down Grill where friends and family met to enjoy a meal with him. Annual events like PA Bowhunters Festival, Opening Day at the Gristmill, Junior Field Day at Delaware County Field and Stream and the Brotherhood of Junglecock Fishing Club Weekend were family events that everyone looked forward to. Ron was a shrewd negotiator and took pride in getting “deals” for his family and friends. He never overpaid for anything. Equally important were his friendships. Ron made friends wherever he went and maintained those friendships over many years. He believed in “an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay” and that “education gets you dollars”. He loved telling stories from his youth and hunting and fishing adventures. He loved his buddy Sonny the cockatiel who has been his companion for over 20 was loved and will be missed by many.
