Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” Wright, age 82, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on August 1st, 2020 at his residence following a brief illness.
Ronnie was born September 12th, 1937 in Aripeka, Florida to the late John Perry “J. P.” Wright and the late Lucile Broadway Wright. Upon his mother’s death in August 1938, his mother’s sister, the late Estelle Broadway Shiver, and her husband, the late John Spence Shiver, Sr., became his parents. He is also preceded in death by his sister Mamie Shiver Reeves and brother Jimmy Lucas Shiver.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Carolyn Hester Wright, sister Vivian “Bibie” Shiver Peace, brother John Spence Shiver, Jr. (Vivian) and sister-in-law Charlotte Shiver. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends also survive.
Ronnie worked for Arrow Shirt factory, Forest Park Police Department, Eastern Airlines and Walmart.
Ronnie’s hobbies included traveling, gardening (especially tomatoes) and watching sports games on TV. He graduated from Baker County High School of Newton, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia. He served a short tour of duty with the United States Army.
