Ronald “Ron” Duane Schwartzkopf

Ronald (Ron) Duane Schwartzkopf, 78, of Strasburg, Colorado, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016, surrounded by his family.  Ron was born to Alex and Francis Schwartzkopf on June 21, 1938 in Windsor Colorado.

Ron is survived by his wife Connie of 30 years, daughters by choice, Shannon (Gregg) Maxwell, Lee Ann (Jim Moore) McLean, Kerrie (Phil) Burns, Samantha (Dave) Mills, brothers Bill (Karen) Schwartzkopf, Jerry (Linda) Schwartzkopf, Larry (Bonnie) Schwartzkopf, grandchildren Ravyn and Taylor Burns, Nissa and Katelynn Maxwell, Brandon Schneider, Kory and Makayla Mills, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ron was preceded in death by his father Alex, mother Francis and brother Art.

When Ron was young he was an avid horseman, marksman, hunter, and cowboy, he truly loved that life and had many entertaining stories to tell from that time of his life.  When he was 23 years old he joined the Army and proudly served as an Army Medic for 3 years at Fort Campbell Kentucky and Korea, he was Honorably Discharged in 1964.  From there, he was employed by Caterpillar as a Systems Analyst in 1965 and after a successful career of 35 years, retired in June of 2000.

Ron enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, of which he had many, he and his wife Connie traveled the entire United States on their Harley’s, often joined by his brothers and their wives.

Ron became a father overnight and never once batted an eye, he was always there to help and support his family no matter what the problem might have been.  Ron was gentle, calm and wise, and always gained the respect and showed respect in return to all that crossed his path.

The impact that he had on so many will never be forgotten, his love of freedom, his love of life, his love of family and friends has truly been an example of what a real hero looks like.  We love you today, tomorrow, forever, and will strive to make you proud.  This is not goodbye but see you later.
