Ronald Forbes was born in Rosemount, St. Mary on June 24, 1940.
He was the last of ten children to Henry and Wilhel Forbes. Ronald attended Broadgate, and Mahoe Hill Primary Schools. He left school at fifteen years old to take care of his mother, upon the death of his father. He met and married his wife Daphne, and together they had six children, Cislyn, Barbara, Winsome, Raymond, Maxine, and Huntley.
Ronald worked as a farmer in St. Mary until the age of 40 when he emigrated to the USA. He settled in Brooklyn, NY, and soon gained employment at Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Hospital in Manhattan. He worked in the Maintenance and Janitorial Services Department. He worked at the hospital for twenty-five years, until he retired in 2002. Soon after retiring, he relocated to Buford, GA. He worshipped at The Fountain Church in Lawrenceville. On March 14, 2021, he was called to be with the Lord.
Ronald is survived by his wife Daphne; five children; sixteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; as well as two daughters-in-law, two sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Ronald was a loving husband, a great father, and a wonderful grandfather. He loved to travel, and he enjoyed sports. Ronald was a people person – very social, never met a stranger. His absence will leave a hole in our hearts. He will be greatly missed. May his soul rest in peace.
