Rolland John Bleuer, 96 of West Bend died Friday June 23, 2017 at the West Bend Care Center. Rollie Bleuer was born December 27, 1920 on a farm near Rodman, Iowa, the son of John and Katherine (Bonnstetter) Bleuer. He graduated from the West Bend High School in 1939.
From 1942-1945 Rollie served in the Army during WWII. After the service he returned to West Bend and farmed until his retirement in 1980. After the service, he returned to West Bend and farmed until his retirement in 1980. Rollie enjoyed his daily long walks for several years with his faithful service dog, Carlos. After Carlos went blind, Rollie received another service dog, Monet, who accompanied him on his daily walks until he suddenly passed away. He was a member of the West Bend American Legion where he served as commander. He was active in the Veterans Affairs, served on the Conservation Board for 10 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Sts. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his children Julie (Mark) Froneberger of Raymore, MO, and Robert (Kelly) Bleuer of Ottosen,IA, 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and a sister Bernadine Schneider of Casper, WY. Rollie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Katherine Bonnstetter Bleuer, son Jason, brother Paul and sister Irene, and an infant sister Marjorie.
