Roger Leonard Barnes, Sr., 73, of 3579 Mount Olivet Rd., Martinsville, VA died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Martinsville, April 2, 1937, Roger was a son of the late Leonard Ester Barnes and Ninner Bradley Barnes. Roger was preceded in death by a son John Michael “Mike†Barnes. Roger was married to Peggy Ashby Barnes who survives. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and had retired after more than 30 years of service from American of Martinsville in the shipping department. In addition to his wife of the home, Roger is survived by a son, Roger Leonard Barnes, Jr.
