Roger Eugene Barfield, 75, of Meredosia, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at his home.

He was born Jan. 29, 1945, the son of Howard and Eliza Beatrice Fry Barfield. He married Teresa Marie Dickman on April 27, 1968, in Meredosia, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2010.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Travis Ray Barfield of White Hall; two grandchildren, Brittany (Trevor) Caudle of Standard City, and Bradley Barfield of White Hall; and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Barfield was a 1963 graduate of Meredosia-Chambersburg High School. He then joined the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He had worked at Anderson-Clayton in Jacksonville and Chapin Cylinder Head. He then began his career at National Starch in Meredosia, retiring in 2006, and was also a member of the Boilermaker’s Lodge #484. He was a member of the Lutheran faith. Roger was a die-hard Raiders fan, loved to fish, and take road trips with his dog, Barney. He loved to bake and give his goods to others. Roger had an incredible sense of humor and was a very grateful and generous person.
