Roger Dale Pape, 91, of Iona, passed away April 7, 2021, at his home.

Roger was born July 22, 1929, in Waverly, Iowa, to Milton Pape and Rose Schoof Pape. He grew up and attended schools in Waverly, Iowa, and graduated from Waverly High School. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On September 10, 1950, he married Mary Marie Blackwell in McGregor, Iowa. Roger and Mary made their home in Waverly, where Roger worked as an auto mechanic for Ritchie Pontiac, Oldsmobile. In 1967, they moved to Jackson, Wyoming, where Roger worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for the National Elk Refuge until his retirement in1995. Roger also served on the Jackson Hole Volunteer Fire Department from 1971 to 1995. He and Mary settled in Iona, Idaho, in 2013.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, swimming, and auto mechanics. He and Mark restored his 1967 Camaro, and recently a 1971 Corvette.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Pape of Iona, ID; son, Mark (Jill) Pape of Salt Lake City, UT; and sister, Joan Loslo of Cedar Falls, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Rose Pape.
