Roger Scott, age 84, of Burt, died on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Algona Good Samaritan Care Center. Roger Charles Scott, the son of Charles and Cecelia (Andreason) Scott, was born on August 8, 1928 in Burt, Iowa. He graduated from Burt High School in 1945. On January 2, 1951 Roger was united in marriage with Mary Jane Muller at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whittemore, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953. Roger farmed and had worked for Algona Municipal Utilities. After his retirement, Roger and Jane would travel to Texas in the winter and he would help with construction of homes for the poor. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Burt VFW and American Legion. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, golf and playing cards. Left to cherish Roger’s memory is his wife of 62 years, Jane; four sons, Steven (Linda) Scott of Algona, Donald (Pam) Scott of Gilmer, TX, David (Julia) Scott of Carrollton, TX and Gary (Sarah) Scott of La Mesa, CA; two daughters, Julie (Mark) Bauer of Bancroft and Deanna (Scott) Olson of Delano, MN; 18 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Ruth Eischen and her husband Phil of Whittemore, Wilma Muller of Algona and Jackie Muller of Whittemore; two brother-in-laws, Jim Buscher of Algona and Gene Lloyd of Shenandoah; and a cousin, Don Andreason of Long Beach, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Noma Scott Lloyd; a nephew, Dennis Lloyd; and in-laws, Henry and Anna Muller, Orville Muller, Vern Muller and Bette Buscher. Memorials may be made in Roger’s name to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, Mayo Clinic, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905.
