Roger Allen Phillips, 67, of 575 Woodlawn Avenue, Martinsville, VA died Monday, April 11, 2011 at Wake Forest University Medical Center, Winston-Salem, NC. Born in Radford, VA on May 20, 1943, he was a son of the late Anne Phillips Phillips and Rev. Dorsie Hampton Phillips of Martinsville. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Chelsea McGhee. Mr. Phillips retired from E. I. DuPont, Inc. of Martinsville with 29 ½ years of service. After retirement, he was a driver with Highland Express. He was a member of Mercy Crossing Church, of Martinsville. He was also a member of the choir and Sunday School Superintedant Surviving in addition to his father is his wife, Pam Phillips, of the home; daughters \u0026 sons-in-law, Robin Phillips Minter \u0026 Richard Minter of Martinsville and Cheryl Phillips McGhee \u0026 Marshall ‘Mike’ McGhee of Stuart; sons \u0026 daughters-in-law, Mickey Allen Phillips \u0026 Jessica Phillips of Martinsville and Roger ‘R. W.’ Phillips \u0026 Catina Phillips of Martinsville; sisters \u0026 brothers-in-law, Brenda \u0026 Howard Stroud of Nashville, TN and Patricia \u0026 Eddie Gowen of Lynchburg, VA; brother \u0026 sister-in-law, Jerry H. \u0026 Betty Phillips of Martinsville; grandchildren, Ashley Minter Oakes, Richard Tyler Minter, Lucas McGhee, Holden Phillips, Bryce Phillips, Hunter Phillips, Chandon Phillips and Cody Phillips and great-grandchildren, Alexis Faith Oakes \u0026 Christopher Aiden Hancock and step-grandchild, Cody Piacitelli The funeral will be held at Mercy Crossing Church on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastors Jackie Poe and Eric Phillips officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday evening, April 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and other times at the home.
