ROGELIO BRICEÑO URCIAGA 1930-2021
Rogelio was born on August 13, 1930 in Amatlán de Cañas, Nayarit, Mexico. He was the son to Ventura Briceño & Narcisa Urciaga. He was one of seven siblings. Brother to Maria, Cisto, Jesus, Jose, Salvador & Josephina.
Rogelio was the husband to the late Maria de Jesus Briceño for 49 years. They are now both united in heaven together again. Rogelio is survived by his three daughters, Maria, Esmeralda & Angelica. His grandchildren Vicky, Melissa, Clarissa, Marlene, Melina, Brianna & Brittney, his great grandchildren Viviana & Valerie.
Rogelio was a hard-working man. He always did his best to provide to his family.
He was a farm worker all his life, getting up at 400am every day & got home at late hours, way past sunset, covered in dirt.
Even though he’d be so tired, he always had a smile on his face when he saw my Mom upon his arrival at home each day.
He would surprise her & bring a bouquet of gladiolas that he picked himself from the fields. He would sing her a song “Te traigo estas flores que corte de la mañana”. My Mom would grab them & place them in a vase, she’d tell him “Andale pareses la pura verdad”. We would all hug my Dad and jump in circles, yelling Daddy, Daddy, take off his boots and ate dinner.
Rogelio loved to sing and dance.
He was a great beloved Grandpa to his grandchildren. He would always ask them if they wanted chucherics from the store He would always attend special events for his grandchildren school plays, soccer games, softball games & graduations.
There was never a time when you invited him to go somewhere and he‘d say no. He was always happy & ready to go anywhere.
While Rogelio lived in San Ysidro more than half his life, his heart was always in Amatlán de Cañas Nayarit. He was known as “El Palillo” in his neighborhood, called La Otra Banda. This is where his final resting place will be. Rogelio will always be remembered as a hard worker, a devoted husband, loving father, a wonderful grandpa and a good friend.
You will always be in our hearts, rest well on your journey, united with Mom. You both touched our lives so deeply, left a trail of love & light behind, that will never diminish, never be forgotten, always cherished!
May you rest in peace Daddy!
