Rodolfo V. Servande, Sr. , entered into rest on Sunday, March 25, 2012.  An Alameda resident since 1974, he was the beloved husband of Marina Servande for  48 years;  devoted father of Rodolfo Servande, Jr., Charlene Holter, Richard Servande, and Lisa Servande-Klackle; loving father-in-law of Cyndee Rosette-Servande and Chris Klackle; and cherished doting grandfather of Pierce and Jess Holter, Sabrina and Katelynn Servande, and Joshua Klackle.

A native of the island of Leyte, Philippines, Rodolfo joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 21 and proudly served for 20 years.   He became a Chief Electrician and traveled extensively while in the Navy.  He served on the USS Eldorado during the Vietnam War.  After retirement from the Navy, he worked an additional 10 years for the PWC Utilities Department as an electrical systems inspector.

Once dubbed the “Filipino MacGyver” because of his unique solutions to household repairs and creation of innovative gadgets, he was the ultimate tinkerer and ever hopeful of coming up with world’s next greatest invention.   With no formal lessons, he was innately artistic.  He was a self-taught guitar, ukulele, and piano player, and he was a creative painter, who as a youth relied upon sales of his landscape paintings to earn a living.  He was a member of the Palompon Association and looked forward to their annual fiestas, where he loved to cha cha with Marina among family and friends.  His greatest passion was fishing, and many summer nights and weekends were spent with family fishing and crabbing in the Bay Area.  He leaves his family with many treasured memories.
