Rodney Romain Fair, the son of Elsie (Sidlo) and Johnie Vaden Fair, was born September 2, 1937 in rural Webster County, NE. He departed this life on Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 1 day.

Rod grew up in Webster County and received his formal education attending District 26 Elementary School then Guide Rock High School graduating with the class of 1956. After High School he lived in Omaha, NE where he attended Omaha University for a year while working at Vickers Inc. and Continental Can Company. In approximately 1964 he moved to California where he attended San Jose State College for a year. For nearly 30 years he lived in the Bay Area cities of Palo Alto, CA and Hayward, CA while being employed with Raychem Corporation in Menlo Park, CA until approximately 2002 when he retired and moved back to Red Cloud.

Rod possessed many interests including playing baseball, basketball, and football during high school. He was a member of the Guide Rock American Legion Baseball team winning the 1955 Class B State Championship that was played in Wymore, NE and coached by Earl “Crate” Delay. Always a competitor whether bowling, playing cards, golf, hunting pheasants or shooting pool, he was always very disappointed if he didn’t win! He especially enjoyed listening to music and his time spent together with family and friends.

Rod was a member of the Revival Tabernacle Church in Red Cloud.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Wayne Fair; sisters Irene Schriner and DeLoris Meyer.

Left to treasure his memory are his brother-in-law Ronald Schriner of Cowles, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and close friend Ruth Wentworth.
